This painting is one of my series of 12 Chinese zodiac animals. Snake ranks sixth, if you were born in 1953, 1965,1977, 1989, 2001, or 2023, you are a snake.Snakes are animals that I am afraid of. I have never had close contact with snakes, although this is non-venomous and docile snake. When I painted this watercolour work, I learned a lot about this beautiful creature, and I completed this work with a sense of awe, and I also wanted to convey to the audience that snakes are very fascinating

Title or Location: Relief!
Oct 11th was the day we crossed Thorong La Pass. Up very early and walking in the dark, to 5416m - we did it! Such a sense of relief! Then down, down, down, seemingly endlessly down - a descent of 1700m to reach Muktinath. Knees and hips complained from halfway down, and creaked to rest after a hot shower."Never again," I said at the time. Haha - famous last words!

In October, my husband, Ashley, and I completed a 16 day trek of the Annapurna Circuit in Nepal. Along the way when energy permitted, I ended the day with a little painting. It was great practice in mindfulness. Back home, I continue the mindful practice by painting from our potos. For me, it's "playing with colour" and thoroughly therapeutic.Day 1 (Oct 4), we were supposed to be in a jeep, but the road was blocked by a landslide - so we walked through these glowing rice fields to a point in

In nature, I wait patiently for just the right moment, one that is different but unique to my subject. It?s those unusual positions during grooming, mating ritual, breeding display, or just being silly. I strive to capture the moment that others miss, don?t see or notice. I?ll then use my photography as reference to create, produce and share an art piece that allows others a glimpse into that secret world of lines, colors and details that I see. This Sandhill Crane fit that bill perfectly.
