ARTISTS
Kaira Rattu
I'm Kaira, a British Indian visual artist and muralist. I specialise in painting custom murals, signage and artwork for homeowners, businesses, and brands.

My mission is to evoke joy and transform indoor and outdoor spaces from the boring to the extraordinary. "Spreading Joy, One Wall at a Time" is my motto, and I paint with the intention that art has the power to inspire and uplift an environment, evoking rays of positivity while energising minds and souls.

I prefer to paint using traditional methods to leave my mark with a "hand-made" feel, visible through the texture and brushstrokes, accentuating the unique charm of human craftsmanship. I am very inspired by the world around me and beauty in the mundane. Flowers, animals, food, Indian culture, bright colours, landscapes, and people catch my eye every day. Using these inspirations, I continue to stay creative by painting and sketching daily.

Kaira Rattu is available for private bookings

My wife and I were on holiday up near Maleny a few years back because the Sunshine Coast hinterland is so beautiful. On our travels we stopped by the side of the road on a ridge that provides a stunning view of the Glasshouse Mountains. I took a few pictures with my mobile and it's always been in the back of my mind that I would paint this wonderful vista one day. I paint using acrylics and I'm still learning the craft as this is just my fifth painting.

Title or Location: Windswept Resilience
The inspiration for this painting. The painting was inspired by the strength and adaptability of Highland cattle, iconic symbols of endurance in harsh climates. Their thick coats and calm demeanor remind us of nature?s ability to thrive amidst adversity. The windswept hair is a metaphor for braving life?s storms with grace and character. While creating this piece, I imagined the cow standing atop a windswept hill, unbothered by the chill as the wind tousles its thick fur. This artwork is my personal exploration, representing a step out of the familiar comfort zone by experimenting with oil paints. Embracing the richness and depth that oils provide, allowing for expressive, layered brushstrokes that add texture and life to the memory I am trying to capture. This work symbolize both a return to cherished memories and a journey into uncharted artistic territory.
